AWS Certified Welding

Next Course Slated to Begin July 25, 2017!

If you are interested in becoming a certified welder, this skill upgrade welding course being offered at RTEC is for you. This special 48-hour training is recommended for those individuals who want to enhance their current welding skills so they can earn American Welding Society (AWS) certification, at RTEC which is an AWS Accredited Testing Facility.

The primary welding processes in this advanced program are wire welding (GMAW) and stick welding (SMAW). Upon successful completion of this course, students will have an opportunity to earn American Welding Society Certification stating that they have become an AWS certified welder.

Among the topics to be covered are:

  • Different types of steel and weld ability
  • Welding parameters
  • Basic cutting torch procedures
  • T-joints
  • Lap joints
  • Butt joints
  • Corner joints

Students must have previous welding experience before enrolling in this course. The class will culminate with a minimum 1G Certification Plate Test.

The AWS Certified Welding course will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The next course is expected to begin on July 25, 2017, and run through Aug. 31, 2017. Cost of the course is $1,600 plus tax and includes one AWS Certification test. (Note: Cost of the course increases to $1,600 plus tax effective July 1, 2017.)
