Earn Your Class A CDL with RTEC in September!

If you’ve been hoping for an opportunity to obtain your Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL), you’ll want to find out more about the course that Northeast Community College offers periodically at RTEC.

Dates for the next course have been announced. This 56-hour training course includes 16 hours of  classroom instruction and 40 hours of driving time with the instructor. The two-day classroom or theory portion will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 28 & 29, 2017, at RTEC in Yankton. The five-day driving portion will be conducted in Norfolk, NE, several weeks after the theory portion concludes. It will be conducted during the week of Oct. 23-27, 2017.

Students who successfully complete an entire course will earn a Class A CDL ready for the workforce. Instruction includes everything you need to know to pass the license exam, pre-trip inspection and practical driving test.

A drug screen is required as part of the class and its cost is included in the fees. Costs for a DOT physical, necessary for some students, are not included. Students should be at least 21 years of age prior to the class start.

Contact RTEC at (605) 668-5700 or stop in at 1200 W. 21st St. in Yankton and pick up the appropriate paperwork. Cost of the course, which reflects a slight increase effective July 1, 2017, will be $1,045 plus tax.

Note: Mitchell Technical Institute also offers Class A CDL Training courses at RTEC. No dates are currently scheduled, but please contact RTEC if you would like to learn more about their class option.
